I am not a frosting lover, but this Berry Cream Frosting tastes so delicious on everything I put it on (or just eaten straight out of the bowl)! It seriously is so good.
This cream cheese-based frosting is light and fluffy with just enough sweetness to taste absolutely delicious on just about any baked good you can think of. Try this Berry Cream Frosting using Raspberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, Blackberries, or a different blueberry of your choice.

Delicious Frosting, for everyone
When I say I don’t generally like frosting, I mean it. For holiday Christmas cookies, I usually opt for dipping my cookies in melted chocolate over frosting them — which looks and tastes fabulous, by the way. I know frosting cookies is a staple tradition around Christmas time for many households, and it was in mine growing up as a kid, but honestly… I’d just rather enjoy making cookies and skip the frosting bit.
Sure, it’s fun. And like so many young women, I went through a phase of learning piping and cake decorating. And while frosting cookies and cakes is fun, creative, and can look so beautiful, at the end of the day I just don’t want to eat it.
Frosting to me just looks like a heap of sugar colored with way too much food dye. Two main ingredients that I generally try to limit or avoid in my kitchen.

This recipe is more or less a low sugar buttercream frosting.
Though it does use a small amount, this Berry Cream Frosting is not heaping with cups of sugar that make you scratch your head and feel anxious about diabetes in your future. Plus, it has no food coloring. The beautiful pastel colors come from the fresh or frozen berries added to the frosting, making this frosting not only seem “healthy-er” — I mean, it is frosting — but the cream cheese and berry combination give this frosting wonderful fresh and springy flavor.
This frosting is my favorite for decorating these Giant Sheet Pan Cookies, or to try atop cake, cupcakes, or brownies (I know, frosting on brownies. I don’t know if that’s a “thing” in general society, but it seriously should be.)
Though I love to use Frozen Raspberries with this raspberry flavor from Frontier Co-op (and no, I am not sponsored by them, I just generally like their products), Blueberries using only vanilla is also amazingly delicious. So, I imagine, would Strawberries, Blackberries, or another berry of your choice. Let me know in the comments which berry flavor you like best.
What you’ll need…

- Cream Cheese
- Butter
- Whipping Cream
- vanilla and/or other flavorings or extracts of choice
- salt
- powdered sugar
Start with creaming together your cream cheese, butter, and whipping cream.
Once that is fully whipped, add your flavoring. This can be just a full tablespoon of vanilla, or you can add 2 tsp vanilla along with 1 tsp of your choice of flavoring. This raspberry flavor is trending as my favorite flavor right, it tastes so good in not only this frosting but also in ice cream).
Add in the salt and powdered sugar, and whip until frosting forms smooth and creamy. This recipe calls for one to two cups of powdered sugar – the amount added can very dependent on desired texture and sweetness.
Last but certainly not least, add the star of the show: the berries.
Now again, these can be whatever berry you prefer – or combination of berries. You can blend them first and then add the liquid to the frosting for a smooth, colorful texture. Or you can leave them a little choppy to give this frosting a little burst.
Also, if you don’t fresh or frozen berries, a Tablespoon of prepared jam will work just as well.
