Hello everyone! I am KJ Kendell – wife, mother, homemaker, and creator of this here blog. I am so glad you have come to my little humble pocket of the internet!
A little about me …
First and foremost, I am a wholehearted believer in God and a believer in families. I believe in being honest, good, and true, and in spreading joy and beauty to those around me.
Christian
I am a believer in working through relationships and holding on tight when life gets hard. I have a wonderful husband who lifts me when I need it and pushes me when I think I can’t. Together we continue to build our love story.
Wife
As a busy mother of three, I understand the joys and struggles of everyday life (as well as the ups and downs of midday life, evening life, and middle of the night life … I get it all!). Over the last few years, I have truly fallen in love with motherhood, and have had the blessing and privilege of being a Stay at Home mom, as well as a Homeschool Mom.
What can I say … my littles bring be joy. So much joy. Life would truly not be the same without my favorite crew.
Mother
As a born and raised Idaho farmgirl, I am a lover of the land, of agriculture, and of open, airy spaces. I grew up on a small family farm in Western Idaho, and I will forever argue that agriculture teaches invaluable lessons – lessons of hard work, patience, commitment, and of pushing forward even with no visible reward in sight.
I also believe there is something connecting about working the land. I am grateful to have been raised in such a way that I could develop a true love for the land. Not just for the community, the people, or the view (though those were definitely there and appreciated) but for the land itself. A love and respect for the dirt, for the soil, the ground underneath my feet. I passionately believe that we each hold a responsibility to be good stewards of the beautiful lands around us.
Farmgirl
Though still farm kids at heart, my husband and I don’t currently live on or own a farm of our own – but we have every intention of getting back to the farm someday (that someday simply hasn’t come yet). We find ourselves still living the “unsettled” situation of career stepping and rental dwelling that many young families live through. We both look forward to someday buying a home and establishing roots in a community, one hopefully with enough dirt and work surrounding it to keep my husband’s hands calloused and my fingernails a constant mess.
Dreamer
I am passionate about Do It Yourself living and finding joy in frugal circumstances. I am a firm believer in living life at its fullest, no matter how bulged or empty your pockets.
I believe that life should be full of joy, that it really can look beautiful, and that you can have both joy and beauty in the world around you. All it takes is a little bit of care and hard work.
Doer
I am a believer in home cooked meals and living within your means. Although I enjoy eating a good tasting, homemade anything (lunch, dinner, dessert, and all the snacks in-between), I have no desire to be a slave to the kitchen. Which is where I try to find the balance to delicious, nutritious foods that feed my growing family, but that don’t always require a ton of time and effort on my part.
I believe that a home should be a space of peace and joy, and that creating that atmosphere and caring for a home is an art form worth respect.
Homemaker
Some of my favorite things …
- warming the house on a cold winter’s day with fresh made sourdough bread
- baking cookies with my favorite little home crew
- building home furniture pieces that are functional and affordable
- canning — it doesn’t matter what, just as long as I get to seal it in a mason jar
- sewing … there’s just something soothing about seeing that machine zip across a piece of fabric
- doodling in the garden. Somedays it might seem like work, but most hours spent in the garden are just pure fun
- and lounging around a campfire with family in our Creator’s magnificent mountains
